The Four C's

The four main factors used to determine a diamond's value are cut, color, clarity, and carat. These are traditionally known as the four C’s. The standards of grading we use today were introduced in the late 1950’s by the GIA. This was done to provide consumers with a logical national standard for evaluating diamonds.

When a diamond was formed millions of years ago the quality of a stone was already set. It was left up to man to extract the finest or highest value finished stone as possible.

For a complete education and a clear understanding of the Four C’s please go to our Book of Diamond Knowledge, where you will find the following six chapters.
