Cutting or Proportion,
What is Ideal?
You may ask why is diamond cutting being presented last? When it's the
most important category? It is simple; you have to understand color and
how it affects the look of the light coming from the stone. The combination
of cutting and color will make an outstanding stone.
For the purpose of this lesson, we will only be speaking of the modern American
brilliant cut style of cutting. Tokowsky developed this style of cutting in the
late 1930's. Today we look at this as the standard, but do accept some variations
due to our preferences as customers. Remember, in this category as well as the
others you choose what is important to you. To understand cutting,F you first
have to be familiar with the rough diamond.
